Western Hwy truck crash

03 Sep, 2010 01:17 PM
A TRUCK'S fuel tank has ruptured on the Western Highway at Middle Creek after it ran off the road into trees shortly before 11am.

Emergency services are on the scene, located between Beaufort and Buangor, for fuel prevention and diesel washaway.

Country Fire Authority District 16 duty officer Ian Morley said the B-double semi trailer had gone off the road to the south side of the highway but was not causing any concern.

''Police are on scene with one fire brigade truck; the ambulance was called as the driver was shaken but he's quite okay,'' Mr Morley said.

A large tow truck is expected to be one scene within the hour to get the truck off the roadside, but this is expected to take some time due to the muddy

conditions.

''(The truck) is not posing a hazard and is well off the road,'' Mr Morley said.

''The highway is fully open in both directions.''
