BALLARAT’S Bunch of Grapes Hotel has been officially reopened after a nine-month, million-dollar renovation. The historic Pleasant Street hotel, which dates back to 1906, has been completely rebuilt and now features a new bar, dining area, children’s room and coffee lounge. Owner Stephen Bryant said the venue had already received a great response from patrons since reopening on Monday. “We’ve tried to design a hotel that suits nearly everyone in Ballarat. “We have put in a brand new sports bar, a sports betting facility, we have an indoor games area and playground for kids, a function room and a new menu,” Mr Bryant said. The building’s facade and two original chimneys were kept in the renovations, while everything else was razed to make way for a new structure. With chic design and state-of-the-art features around the venue, the historic building has been revitalised and is expected to be a popular location for functions and parties. “Last night we did 200 for dinner, but we have tried to make it an intimate setting for dinner with a reasonable price range for good meals,” Mr Bryant said. He said the hospitality industry was a tough market for any new businesses, but the spring and summer seasons were promising for the hotel. “The response we have had so far has been really fantastic. Everyone we have had through the doors have loved what we have done with the place,” he said. The Bunch of Grapes Hotel is at 401 Pleasant Street, Ballarat.
