THERE was double trouble at the Eureka Resource Centre as children vied for a spot in the sandpit.
Several sets of twins and their siblings dressed in costume gathered to celebrate Multiple Birth Awareness week on Monday.
Mother of twins Sue Wolstenholme said multiple babies were double the work, but the rewards were numerous.
The president of the Ballarat and District Multiple Birth Association said the group was trying to raise awareness.
"This week is basically to highlight what we are doing as an association and to let people know we are out there as a support network," Ms Wolstenholme said.
The Ballarat group includes 40 families and a regular playgroup is held at the Eureka Resource Centre every Monday from 11am to 1pm.
The group is running a special antenatal program for expecting parents of multiples, the first session will be held next month at Ballarat Health Services.
Guest presenters will include an obstetrician, anaesthetist, a maternal and child health nurse, midwives and mothers and fathers of multiples.
