Motorcyclist killed in crash near Buangor

A MOTORCYCLIST died after a head-on collision with a car on the Western Hwy near Buangor last night. The 30-year-old male motorcyclist from Templestowe and the Holden Vectra collided about 7pm. Four people from Nunawading were travelling in the car.A woman, 18, suffered chest injuries and a boy, 16, neck and back injuries.Both were taken by ambulance to Ballarat Health Services Base Hospital.The two other people in the car, a 49-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman had minor injuries, including cuts and bruises. The accident happened about eight kilometres east of Buangor near the Middle Creek Rd intersection Last night debris was strewn across the road, as was the crushed BMW motorcycle, which was left barely recognisable.The front of the car was crushed inwards from the force of the impact, and the bonnet, roof and sides were also badly damaged. The accident caused traffic to bank up for about a kilometre on either side of the crash site. The road was closed for several hours. Police also put roadblocks in place at Ararat and Beaufort. Motorists were directed towards an alternative route on the Sunraysia Hwy from Ararat. Ararat Police, SES, CFA and ambulance members attended the accident.
