IMAGINE being told by your doctor that your newborn baby is not allowed to cry for five months or he could turn blue.Just two days after little Xavier Brown was born he was rushed to Melbourne for a life-saving heart operation. His parents Angela and Travis Brown were devastated to find their fourth child not only had a cleft lip and palate, but Tetralogy of Fallot resulting in a narrowing of the pulmonary arteries. When he cried the lung's blood flow reduced and he would turn a shade of blue."He was like a little smurf," Angela said.At one point, Angela and Travis had to spend six weeks at the Royal Children's Hospital with Xavier, now 12 months old, as their three daughters stayed behind with family."It was definitely very hard, we're so lucky we have such a supportive family," Angela said.Since his birth, Xavier has gone under the knife twice earning himself a place in the Zipper Club, a nickname for children with scars down their chest from heart surgeries. However, doctors recently told the Browns that his heart wasn't entirely fixed and third corrective operation will be performed on February 11.It is likely Xavier will need future surgeries to ensure his health is kept in check.Despite his time in hospital Xavier is a happy and cheeky baby and has started to crawl and be active after weeks on his back letting his heart heal."He's a really good baby but it's been pretty hard on him," Mrs Brown said."It's only just got to the point where he knows what's going on and at the hospital when they take his arm he knows he's getting a needle and he just hates it."In 10 years time Xavier _ now 12-months-old _ will need a valve replacement but for the time-being the Brown family is taking one day at a time. The Brown family is one of three in Ballarat supported by HeartKids Victoria.
