Stripping it all back to basics

30/10/2008 11:37:00 PM
VISIT the Art Gallery of Ballarat tomorrow and you will get a peak at a side of Ballarat never seen before.

Ballarat in the Raw features black and white photographs of 30 ordinary locals wearing nothing more than an item of their choice.

A grandparent, painter, university student, journalist and administration officer are among the people snapped by The Courier's chief photographer Ian Wilson for the exhibition.

Ballarat restaurant owner Terry Frangos bared all because he wanted to do something for the community.

"I wanted to give something back to the community ... the community helps me," Mr Frangos said.

At 77-years-of-age, Margot Twomey believes she is the oldest in the exhibition. She said she peeled off to do something different.

"My family don't even know I've done it," Ms Twomey said.

Ballarat in the Raw will be on exhibition from tomorrow to December 7.

Stretch the boundries of your minds. Lets hope our one and only resident "nipple policeperson" is having a Bex, a cup of tea and a good lie down between now and December 7th !

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
