BALLARAT Athletic Club has added an event for athletes with a disability (AWD) to its 2010 Ballarat Gift program.
The inaugural Deb Whitecross Enterprises AWD 120m Ballarat Gift will feature two heats and a final on day two of the carnival, Sunday April 11.
Multiple Paralympic gold medallist Tim Sullivan headlines the 10-athlete field.
Sullivan is a three-time AWD winner at Stawell, while Aaron Lethlean won the AWD event at the Melbourne Gift in 2008.
Chris Mullins, gold medallist in Australia's 4x100m relay at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, is also among the entries.
The field features five female athletes, including world T42 200m record holder Michelle Errichiellon and 2008 Beijing Paralympians Kelly Cartwright and Katy Parrish.
BAC committee member Greg Whitecross said it was a good opportunity for the Ballarat Athletic Club to incorporate an event for athletes with a disability with the absence of such an event on the Stawell Gift program this
Easter.
Heats for the AWD Ballarat Gift will be held from 10.45am on Sunday, with the final at 3pm. The final carries a $1000 prize pool.
