BALLARAT, Geelong and Melton shared the honours at Victorian Country Tennis Association junior country week at Creswick yesterday.
Each claimed two titles on the Mt Prospect grass.
Ballarat took out the under-19A division, defeating Mt Prospect Purple, and Ballarat Red had the better of Buninyong Black in the under-14 boys’ grand final.
Melton collected two under-19 and and Melton two under-14 premierships.
Country week co-ordinator Pat Gilchrist said weather conditions had not always been conducive to grass court tennis, but with the use of hard courts the schedule had been completed.
She said with entries down, organisers were considering putting the event back a couple of weeks to coincide with the second week of the Australian Open.
This would mean a January 21 start next year.
Gilchrist said being later in school holidays, more players might be available to play.
