BALLARAT middle distance runner Collis Birmingham has slashed his best time for 5000 metres in Oslo.
Contesting the Bislett Games, which are the second leg of the IAAF Golden League, the Australian 10,000m record holder produced a personal best 13 minutes, 14.43 seconds in an event won
by world record holder Kenenisa Bekele (13.04.87).
He finished 13th.
His time was almost two seconds better than his previous personal best
of 13:16.36 set in Melbourne in March.
Birmingham is yet to decide whether he will run in the 5000m or 10,000m at the upcoming World Track and Field Championships in Berlin.
