THE Young Christian Workers are on the march back to Wendouree Reserve, and in numbers that have caught the Lake Wendouree Football Club by surprise. So much so that the Lakers are asking former YCW players, officials and supporters to let the club know in advance if they plan to attend the YCW reunion on May 1.Lake Wendouree president Gavin Maher said interest in the reunion, which will coincide with the Lakers' first home match of the season, had created a challenge for organisers."We've probably had anywhere between 300 and 500 that have indicated they might be there," Maher said."We need to have some idea of final numbers. If an extra 200 people turn up on the door it would help to know about it, for the sake of the caterers."The YCW Football Club passed into history when it merged with Wendouree in 1994 to form the Lakers.Tickets to the reunion also entitle bearers entry into the MECU Ballarat Football League rivalry round match between Lake Wendouree and East Point. The post match function, to be held at the Mining Exchange, will include displays of YCW memorabilia from the club's formation in 1946 to 1994.YCW people interested in attending the event are asked to visit www.ycwreunion.com.au or phone 0417 521 331 to register their interest.
