BALLARAT Miners rebounded from a heavy first up loss in the SEABL to defeat Mt Gambier by nine points in Ballarat today.

And they did it without new import Drake Reed, who was forced to sit out the weekend's two games after not getting his visa approved in time.

The Miners lost by 31 points - 104-73 - to hand The Courier-Bendigo Advertiser Cup to Bendigo at Bendigo on Saturday night.

The Braves opened up a game-winning break with a 26-9 third quarter.

Jared Scoines led the scoring for the Miners with 23 points, while Jamal Brown made 16 points and had eight rebounds.

Bendigo had six players score in double figures.

The Miners led Mt Gambier for go to whoa, but was never more than 14 points in front.

Tariq Naqqash fired against his former team with 20 points, while Scoines completed a big double with 18 points.

Well all i can say is Re- appoint Shane Mathison, as coach of the Miners. The Miners have certainly not jumped ahead in leaps or bounds, since he was disgracefully sacked. The Miners have recruited well but unfortunately aren't playing that well. The Roosters in the VFL, re appointed Fitzgerald, so why can't the Miner's do the same with Shane.
