BALLARAT’S Sarah Tatchell says she enjoys being the only hometown player at the Cricket Australia Female Under-18 National Championships.
Tatchell, who hails from Napoleons-Sebastopol Cricket Club, has had no problems dealing with the home-crowd attention and has been one of Victoria’s best players.
She is the highest-wicket taker of the tournament so far and is a key reason why the Vics are in second position.
The talented bowler took another four scalps in Victoria’s round three Twenty20 win against Tasmania yesterday morning.
Tatchell took out half of Tasmania’s wickets to end its innings 8-49 and only allowed her opposition five runs during her four overs.
Victoria only lost two batswomen during its innings and won by eight wickets.
Tatchell’s brilliant form has come at a cost though, as she fought through inflammation of the elbow in yesterday’s match and was glad to have time off to recover for tomorrow’s double header.
Victoria had the bye yesterday afternoon and no matches are scheduled for today.
Apart from not needing to travel to represent her state, Tatchell said the best thing about playing in Ballarat was that she could use her knowledge to her advantage.
“I know a bit more about the grounds and I’ve been able to help the team out,” she said.
Victoria plays Queensland at Northern Oval tomorrow morning before heading to Wendouree Turf to take on Western Australia in the afternoon.
