BALLARAT Sebastopol cyclist Liam White needed just one-and-a-half laps to secure hometown glory in today's Spokes Festival men's wheelrace final.
White powered ahead of a field of Victorian and interstate cyclists with one-and-a-half to go, clinching the Ballarat Sebastopol Cycling Club track carnival event in what was an extra special victory for The 17-year-old.
He said securing the title on home-ground was a special moment.
The race, held as part of this weekend's inaugural Ballarat Spokes Festival, saw White cross the line ahead of Hawthorn's Cameron Woolcock and Blackburn's Hayden Brown in a repeat performance of his heat.
South Australian Stacey Riedel won the women's wheelrace ahead of Bendigo's Tayla Evans and Castlemaine's Emma Waldron.
South Australian Miles Scotson made it back-to-back wins in the Victorian Elite Men's Madison Championship with new partner Robert-Jon McCarthy.
