BALLARAT cyclist Patrick Shaw won the Tour of Gippsland ay Paynesville on Sunday.

Wearing the yellow jersey, Shaw finished 22 seconds clear.

Although he did not win a stage, Shaw was rewarded for consistency over the five-day event.

He had three seconds and a third in the eight stages.

Jo Lewis from Sydney was second overall, with New Zealander Rico Rogers third.

This gives Shaw two tour victories in a row in the National Road Series, having taken out the Tour of Toowoomba.

Shaw is in his first season riding for Virgin Blue after several years based in Italy.
