FORMIDABLE full-forward Barry Hall and Brownlow medallist Adam Cooney will be back on field for the Western Bulldogs tomorrow in Ballarat. The Bulldogs yesterday recalled most of their big guns for a final NAB Challenge clash against Ballarat’s adopted team North Melbourne at Eureka Stadium. A trip to Bunbury offered the Bulldogs a chance to test their younger players.Bulldogs football manager James Fantasia said it was now time to bring back some “older heads” two weeks out from the season.Fantasia said the veteran Hall could hardly wait to get back in match action. “He’s in good nick, Barry. He’s always such a hard worker in the professional way he goes about training – if anything we’ve had to hold him back a bit to make sure he gets through the season,” Fantasia said.“He’s looking forward to getting back and is champing at the bit.”The Bulldogs, like the Kangaroos, are keen to field a near-full strength line-up in a final genuine hit-out for their players.Fantasia said travelling to Ballarat was “as good as it gets” for a practice match late in the pre-season.A short trip down the Western Highway to Ballarat, Fantasia said, was like visiting part of the Bulldogs’ extended neighbourhood.Ballarat’s young, home-grown Bulldogs Andrew Hooper and Jordan Roughead have been omitted from the line-up.Both will take part in intra-club matches this weekend for the Bulldogs’ Victorian Football League affiliate Williamstown.
