AFL: Lower breaks leg in Ballarat visit

09 Mar, 2010 03:18 PM
NORTH Melbourne midfielder Ed Lower has become the third major casualty from Saturday’s AFL practice match against Hawthorn in Ballarat on Saturday.

The Kangaroos today revealed on their website that Lower had broken a leg.

He will miss six to eight weeks.

Hawthorn lost ruckman Simon Taylor (broken leg) for up to four months, while Brad Sewell broke a collarbone and will miss the start of the home and away season.

Lower told kangaroos.com.au that he expected to return close to or just after round two.

“I was tackling a Hawthorn player and as I swung around my lower leg collided with someone’s knee.

``It just felt like I got kicked in the ankle, but then it got progressively worse.’’ He said.
