LACHLAN Dawson loves his soccer.
And after just four competitive matches with the Ballarat Academy of Soccer, Lachlan's proud mother Nicole believes it is a passion that her son will continue for many years to come.
Nicole, a single mother of five, said her son had become attached to soccer like no other sport he had previously tried.
"He just can't get enough of it," she said.
"He started playing Futsal last year and absolutely loved it. He fell in love with the whole soccer thing and now he can't get enough of it."
Nicole said Lachlan had played for Ballarat Football Club in an under-10 competition, but had now opted against the traditional Australian game for what appears to be his true sporting love.
"He was great at footy and just loves sport in general, but there is just something about soccer that really took over," she said.
"I am just really proud of him and that's why I nominated him for this. He is just a great kid."
Lachlan is now in his third season of futsal - an indoor version of the outdoor game - with a team from his school - St Thomas More Primary School.
The grade five student, who has ambitions of playing for A-League club Melbourne Victory and even representing the Socceroos, has also been selected for a Ballarat Regional Squad.
Ballarat will play against teams from around the state in Swan Hill during the upcoming school holidays.
