JUST a week after his Great Chase victory, Sheoak Ian will try to book his place in another feature final at Ballarat greyhound races tomorrow night.
The Joe Borg-trained chaser, who claimed last Wednesday's group two event at The Meadows in a slick 30.05sec, will be one of the headline acts in tomorrow night's Ballarat Cup heats at Morshead Park.
Sheoak Ian will provide Borg, who is based in Maryborough, with his first starter in a Ballarat Cup heat when he jumps from box six in heat five at 8.58pm.
Borg said rival Zenith (box three) was the dog to beat in the race, with the Jamie Ennis-trained chaser shooting for his seventh straight success.
"If he wasn't in the race I'd say we'd have a good chance of winning," Borg said.
"I'm expecting Zenith to lead the race, I think he's a little bit quicker than us early. I've never entered one for it. This is my first time I'm going for it.
"I wouldn't put him in unless I thought he had the ability to win it."
Sheoak Ian, a son of Surf Lorian, is yet to race at Ballarat, but has visited the track a number of times, including a qualifier victory in 25.49sec in February this year.
"He's trialled there many times and the track definitely suits him," Borg said.
Sheoak Ian will be looking to secure his fourth straight win tomorrow night following quick Bendigo and Geelong victories before his group-level victory at The Meadows.
Lal Lal greyhound Bombastic Blade, trained by Darren Cairns, is another leading chance in heat five.
Bombastic Blade has won seven of 15 starts, including at 25.52sec effort at Ballarat last outing.
The group two Ballarat Cup final, worth $30,000 to the winner, will be staged on December 9.
