Ballarat Harriers premiers for third time

07 Feb, 2012 09:20 PM
BALLARAT Harriers are the Ballarat Regional Athletic Centre men’s division one track and field premiers for the third year in a row.

Harriers dominated the battle for the time-honoured Loughlin Shield.

They finished well clear of Ballarat YCW on the points table, with Eureka and Wendouree next.

Eureka secured the women’s division one title and the Sandra Griffin Trophy at Llanberris Athletic Centre on Saturday.

A Commonwealth Games torch is the centrepiece of the new trophy, which was decided over 12 rounds.

Eureka won four premierships, Wendouree three and Harriers two.

Ballarat will now take a combined regional team to the Lakeside Stadium at Albert Park on Saturday for the Athletics Victoria statewide shield final.
