ROBBIE Waters has a wealth of experience to call on in his return to coaching duties in the Lexton Plains Football League tomorrow.
Waters has the services of four senior club coaches as well as an array of the competition's stars to take on South West District at Coleraine.
The Lexton Plains's best talent has rallied to the league's return to representative football - giving Waters close to the strongest line-up possible.
Navarre joint coach Ben Martin, Carngham-Linton joint coaches Justin Porter and Jade Keam, and Rokewood-Corindhap mentor James McNamee will pull on the gold and black of the LPFL.
They will be joined by two Smith Medallists in Jarrod Bibby and Nick Watson, who by being named on interchange demonstrate the strength of the line-up.
As well as Martin, Keam, Bibby and Watson, Travis Grigg, Chris Jardine, Jake Pring, Rob Mosby, Steve Tung and Jarrad Allan are all recruits to the competition this year.
Although Waters is now with VFL club North Ballarat as an assistant coach, he is a familiar will the majority of the players - especially Clint Ladiges, Matt Stasse, Robbie Greenbank and Porter, who all played under Waters in Carngham-Linton's 2007 premiership team.
Waters believes pace and the potency of his forward line will be instrumental in giving Lexton Plains victory.
"We've gone with players who can run and carry the football."
Half forward Stephen Ross, winger Jake Pring and defender Tom Blackford fit this bill.
In attack, Waters points to Porter and McNamee as the linchpins.
The spearheads have been named to line up side-by-side in the goal front, ensuring the LPFL always has an option when pressing forward.
Porter caps off a powerful goal-to-goal line of Grigg and Martin in the key defensive roles, Jardine in the centre, and Kiernan Molloy at centre half forward.
Waters said as was often the case in inter-league clashes, little was known about the opposition.
He said he had put a major emphasis on team bonding to ensure they went into the match as "teammates" in the true sense.
Molloy will captain the LPFL with Jardine as vice-captain.
Carngham-Linton defender James Rayner is out of the match after being injured in a non-football related incident yesterday.
Waters said his loss left a significant hole in the team's defence.
