BOSCA Rabbit is going for seven wins in a row in the opening heat of the Top Cat Video Summer Classic, 450 metres, at Ballarat greyhounds races tonight.
From the Lara kennel of Rob Britton, the classy sprinter has displayed his all-round talents by stringing together wins from a variety of boxes on a variety of tracks.
He began the sequence from the red at Warrnambool on January 6 and then went to Bendigo for a one-off visit.
Since that effort he has made the Shepparton circuit his own with four consecutive victories.
This will be his first visit to Morshead Park.
The key to Bosca Rabbit being able to win from any draw is his early speed. Once in front, there has been no catching the son of Big Daddy Cool.
Bosca Rabbit starts from box four, from which he won three starts ago on the only occasion he has worn the blue. If he gets a clean getaway he should maintain his winning run.
Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club has three heats of the classic.
Heat two appears to be a match race between Cooney's Medal and Zaber, which has won five of his past six starts.
The third heat is the most open, with Lily Eve, Elite Ice and Renae's Crow among the best chances.
BUCKLEY trainer Ian Cockerell and wife Lisa are hoping for a form reversal in the Lynette's Florist Drysdale Mixed Grade 4/5, 550m.
They believe that Bliksen's racing pattern has changed and he will be better suited over a longer trip. Most of his latest outings have been over 515m at Sandown.
His main dangers are Napoleon Tiger, which has won four of his past five starts and Our Toyman.
Bliksen was bred by the Cockerells from the first greyhound bitch they owned and the litter has produced two other handy performers in Finlandia and White Chocolate.
Bliksen turns four later this month, but the Cockerells say he acts more like a 12-month-old puppy.
With this attitude and his love of competition in races, Bliksem will continue to race until he indicates to his ready for a easy life in retirement.
