NICOLE O'Shea has only been back in the water for the past six months, but it hasn't taken her long to get among the gold.
The 26-year-old was part of the 500m women's fours kayaking team to taste success at the Victorian 1000m-500m Sprint Championships, just a week after she competed in the 2010 Oceania Open.
O'Shea also placed third in 1000m and 500m doubles events and the 500m singles.
This followed earlier fours success with her Melbourne-based teammates at the state 200m sprint titles earlier this month.
O'Shea, originally from Bendigo who now lives in Ballarat, gave up the sport in 2002 before making a comeback in the middle of last year to simply "get fit".
And her return has her paddling at Lake Esmond, Creswick, Geelong or in Melbourne up to six times each week.
The Ballarat Amateur Canoe Club member will miss this weekend's national sprint titles in Sydney due to her brother's wedding, but aims to compete in that event next year. A berth in the Australian team for the world titles, held yearly, is now the major goal.
