WOMEN'S National Basketball League player Amy Lewis is returning for a second season with the Ballarat Lady Miners.
Originally from Hamilton in Western Victoria, Lewis is having a big year with Townsville Fire.
The energetic guard is averaging 16.2 points a game with more than 300 points for the WNBL season.
Ballarat Community Health Lady Miners coach Kym Cassells is thrilled Lewis is coming back.
She said Lewis was first on their wish list when putting a team together for this year.
"Amy is really starting to develop her game at both ends of the floor and will be a go-to player for us this year.
"I'm really looking forward to having her back," Cassells said.
Lewis will complete physical education degree studies at the University of Ballarat this year.
Lewis said it was great being so close to her family last season.
She said being able finish her studies and at the same time play basketball was ideal.
"I couldn't ask for a better fit."
Lewis will arrive in Ballarat after her commitments with Townsville are completed, with the Fire sitting in the top half of the WNBL.
Lewis will team up with recruit Bulleen Boomers young forward Rachel Jarry as Ballarat's two restricted players.
The Wes Davidson Real Estate Ballarat Miners continue their preparation against the Bendigo Braves at Bendigo tonight.
This will be the first time recruits Drake Reed, Daniel Joyce, Jared Scoines, Tariq Naqqash and Ryan Barnes have played together.
The Lady Miners and Miners will then line-up against past players in a "legends" doubleheader at the Minerdome next Saturday night.
