LEXTON forward Tim Oliver says there is a ''big aura'' about Skipton that is hard to ignore.
Oliver said his team was definitely the underdog for the final Kingprint Lexton Plains Football League senior crown.
But that was not necessarily a bad thing.
''Obviously Skipton's like the side that's red-hot favourites and have been the team to beat all year,'' Oliver said.
''We get to have a crack at them, so we'll see how we end up.''
Plenty of hype has been made about Lexton ahead of its first LPFL grand final, especially in a league that has the same name as the team.
Oliver said there was motivation to be the last team name engraved on the league's premiership trophy.
''It's definitely a bit of an added bonus really, but there's not any added pressure with that, I'd say,'' Oliver said.
One player particularly hungry to get his hands on the premiership cup is Skipton full-forward Tim Beacham.
He has played in nine preliminary finals, but has been stumped every time.
This is his first season with the reigning LPFL premier, having transferred with his brother from Central Highlands club Learmonth.
''Obviously AJ and myself have played in nine preliminary finals and haven't got through nine preliminary finals, so in the third quarter last week we were a bit nervous,'' Beacham said.
''Now, particularly towards the latter part of our our careers, to play in a grand final we know just how hard it is to get there, let alone win one.''
Beacham said hard work over the past 11 months was all tailored to playing on the final day of the season.
A change of leagues has refreshed his game and he looked forward to a big outing this weekend.
Beacham quipped that the mayor of Skipton had declared a public holiday on Saturday, so he expected Emus fans to be out in force.
