The former Carngham-Linton captain has been working hard this summer instructing the Tigers' ruck and midfield departments leading into the 2010 Lexton Plains Football League season.

Stasse was recruited to the club as assistant coach to playing-coach Eamon Johnson, and is already relishing the new challenge.

"I'm really excited. It's been a good opportunity and (coaching) is something I've wanted to try," Stasse said.

"I enjoy meeting new people and Lexton's been really good."

The 29-year-old has established himself as one of the league's most imposing ruckmen since he debuted in 2000.

Stasse has played eight of the past 10 seasons with Carngham-Linton with a two-year hiatus to SMW Rovers in the Mininera and District Football League.

His arrival offers strong support for Johnson, whose coaching bench has also been bolstered with the return of former Tigers' coach Terry Drew as chairman of selectors.

Drew coached the Tigers to three grand finals in the 1970s and the club hopes he can help bring them back deep into the finals series.

Johnson said Stasse's premiership success with the Saints had already created an excited buzz about the club.

"The dominant player he is will add body strength among our young guys, strength around the ball and good leadership on ground," Johnson said.

A high player turn-over at the club means the Tigers will sport a dramatically new line-up.

Johnson was confident there was plenty of young talent among the ranks, including midfield/forward Tom Fisher and Joe Ashmore, a wingman capable of swinging forward.

The Tigers are struggling for players at under-17 and under-14 level and are in danger of folding.

Lexton Football Club chairman Mal Sargent said all interested players were welcome, including those able to fill-in on permit from their own clubs.
