NEW signing Rachel Jarry will join the Ballarat Lady Miners next week.
She will have her first training session with her new teammates on Tuesday night. Jarry was a member of the Bulleen Boomers outfit which lost the Women's National Basketball League grand final to Canberra on Saturday.
"We're giving her the week off," head coach Kym Cassells said.
Jarry's arrival will complete the squad.
As well as the recruitment of Jarry, the big news for Ballarat is the return of three championship players - Karen Ashby, Andrea McMahon and Lynly Doherty. All three stood out of the game last season.
Ashby had her first baby, while McMahon and Doherty took time off to settle into new jobs.
Cassells said getting the experienced trio back was a massive lift.
"They know what's required," she said.
"It's good to have them back."
Cassells said training had been much more intensive with Ashby, McMahon and Doherty rejoining the team and pushing the group's youngsters.
Cassells, who is in her ninth season at the helm, said greater depth would also mean better quality training throughout the season.
A numbers shortage last year meant the Lady Miners constantly had issues with training drills.
Ballarat has lost import Kayla Francis to Sandringham, as well as Rachel Warton (Queensland) and Adriana Cann.
The Lady Miners begin the SEABL season against Launceston in Ballarat on Saturday, March 20.
