BALLARAT Lady Miners unleashed a devastating second half to smash Albury-Wodonga in the South East Australian Basketball League on Saturday night.
The Lady Miners took their game to a new season high to run away by 40 points - 76-36.
They were relentless after half-time, restricting the hapless Lady Bandits to just seven points.
After an indifferent two quarters in which it shot at 30 per cent, Ballarat looked like a new outfit.
It was aggressive up and down the court and hardly wasted a scoring opportunity as every player increased their intensity.
The Ballarat Community Health Lady Miners have now strung together three wins and are well entrenched in the top six on five wins and two losses.
Ballarat had contributors across the board, but it was Rachel Jarry and Amy Lewis who shone the brightest.
Jarry was pivotal in ensuring the Lady Miners kept their nose in front early when little seemed to go right offensively.
And then when the rest of the team finally found its range, Jarry focused her efforts in shutting out Albury-Wodonga and it worked a treat.
She finished with 17 points and 18 rebounds to help keep the Lady Bandits' big gun Lisa Wallbutton to just eight points.
Lewis is getting better by the game in what is shaping as a highly productive season. Ballarat's second import scored 21 points, including 10 in the third period, and had five steals.
Captain Karen Ashby maintained a high work rate for 12 points and 10 rebounds, but it was game in which Lynly Doherty, Andrea McMahon and Kristy Rinaldi also made decisive contributions.
Lady Miners head coach Kym Cassells said the game had followed a similar pattern with Ballarat saving its best until the second half.
