VFL: Roosters' captain Moloney back in the fray

30 Jul, 2010 03:08 AM
CAPTAIN Shaune Moloney will come back for North Ballarat against Werribee in the VFL at Werribee tomorrow.

He returns after missing four matches with a strained hamstring.

With a weekend break during his absence, it will be one day shy of six weeks since Moloney last played _ in a six-point win over Bendigo Bombers, when he was among the Selkirk Roosters' best.

North Ballarat has stretched its winning sequence to six while Moloney has been out, but his presence in defence beside Matt Sharkey and Marc Greig gives it a much more solid look.

Chris Giampaolo replaces Jordan Dillon as the nominated 23rd player.

This will be Giampaolo's second senior appearance as the fifth interchange player this season.

Dillon was the only player confirmed by North Ballarat yesterday as being left out from the line-up that defeated Port Melbourne by four points.

The final Roosters' line-up will be determined by who North Melbourne takes into Sunday's AFL clash with the Western Bulldogs.

Along with Moloney and Giampaolo, the North Melbourne quartet of Gavin Urquhart, Leigh Harding, Ed Lower and Ryan Bastinac, and North Ballarat's Grant Bell and Chris Lynch are inclusions in the Roosters squad.

The Kangaroos have included youngsters Marcus White and Brayden Norris in an extended interchange after impressive performances for North Ballarat against Port Melbourne. White and Norris are yet to make their AFL debuts.

North Melbourne elevated White from the rookie list this week to put the Roosters premiership player in the running for selection in his second year at Arden Street.

Despite his heroics, ruckman/forward David Hale did not retain his place in the North Melbourne line-up and will remain a Rooster for at least one more week.

Hale played two matches on Saturday, getting a late call up by the Kangaroos after completing his VFL commitments.

Like North Ballarat, Werribee is getting limited access to AFL-listed players owing to North Melbourne's lengthy injury list and will again have only as handful of inexperienced Kangaroos.

North Ballarat is second with 12 wins and two losses, but Werribee is doing it tough with three wins and a draw to be 13th.
