BALLARAT ten-pin bowler Mark Woodyatt was one of the leading hands at the 2010 Victorian Country Cup carnival.
Woodyatt spearheaded Ballarat's charge at the 30th annual country carnival, helping his men's team to fifth with a high-class average of 209 during the three days of competition. Ballarat's women finished eighth, for an overall sixth placing.
The 30-year-old's selection in the All-Star team of five men and five women is his first since 1997, when he was picked in the side at the Presidents Junior Interstate Shield Tournament. He also bowled for the state in the same carnival in 1996.
"It is not really a goal to try and make the team when you go over, because you are in a team environment you try and win for the team, but it's just a good honour to be selected in the All-Star side," Woodyatt said.
"The last person in it from Ballarat would have been Paul Meyer, in about 2001.
"Next year, if I happen to bowl again, I'll aim to try and make the team again."
Woodyatt rated the achievement alongside bowling the perfect 300 game (twice) as highlights of his senior career.
His first 300-game was in Ballarat in 2006, before claiming the feat again in Werribee in 2008.
"I've bowled two real ones in league competition, where they are recognised, and one where it hasn't been recognised (in practice)," Woodyatt said.
