Harness racing: Bonavista Bay given all clear from vets

24 Nov, 2009 10:19 AM
BONAVISTA Bay has again come under the scrutiny of veterinarians in Western Australia.

And he has again been given a clean bill of health.

Stewards ordered a veterinary examination of the Smythes Creek pacer after he finished sixth in the WA Four-Year-Old Championship in Perth on Friday night.

The vet found that nothing was amiss.

Bonavista Bay started a $1.25 favourite in the last warm-up for the group one $175,000 Golden Nugget to be run

on Friday, having stormed away to victory for trainer Emma Stewart in his previous outing at Gloucester Park.

Reinsman Chris Alford said Bonavista Boy was a ‘‘bit disappointing’’.

‘‘He never quickened when I wanted him to, but I’m sure they’ll sort him out before next Friday,’’ he said.

Bonavista Bay came under scrutiny in the lead-up to Friday night’s outing which he was found to be showing

signs of slight lameness.
