AMADMANCOMESUNDONE will run on Ballarat Pacing Cup night.
Craig Knowles, his breeder, owner and trainer, has his fingers crossed that the outing for the six-year-old will be in the Cup. Knowles would be over the moon if this came to fruition.
Right now though, that is out of the Delacombe-based harness racing enthusiast’s hands. Amadmancomesundone is emergency for the $125,000 Ballarat Pacing Cup, 2710m, and must rely on a scratching sometime leading up to tomorrow morning if he is to get a start. In the meantime, Knowles has his focus on The Pure Steel, a $20,000 standing start event which has attracted a country cups-like field including New Zealand star Auckland Reactor. The Kiwi had an even bigger reputation than today’s star four-year-old Sushi Sushi when he first came to Australia at that same age three years ago.
While he has since had a roller coaster ride with a loss of form and injury, Auckland Reactor still boasts 28 wins and $1.5 million in stakes. If a Amadmancomesundone gets a run in the cup, he will emulate his sire Pass The Mustard, which contested the race in 2003.
Amadmancomesundone has just stepped up to country cups class this season with fair efforts in the Nyah and Bendigo feature events.
A run in the Ballarat Pacing Cup, well that would be something else.
