Ballarat race meet moved to Geelong

12 Aug, 2010 05:06 PM
RACING Victoria Limited has transferred the race meeting scheduled for Ballarat next Wednesday to the Geelong synthetic track.

This was to have opened the Ballarat Turf Club's new season.

The BTC's next meeting will now be on Ladies DAy on Wednesday, September 1.

BTC chief executive officer Shane Brennan said the

transfer had been made early to ensure trainers could make an informed decision when nominating horses.

He said with Dowling Forest Racecourse receiving 66 millimetres of rain over 36 hours, it was impossible to predict what the state of the track would be next week.
