BALLARAT trainer Ken Williams still wonders what might have happened had Belle Of Dubai gained a start in last year's Melbourne Cup Carnival.Williams set the four-year-old for a $100,000 race for fillies and mares at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.Unfortunately for Williams and connections, Belle Of Dubai came up as an emergency. With the mare jumping out of her skin, they had to decide whether to run her at Ballarat's Dowling Forest the day before when they were assured of a run or hope she gained a start on the Tuesday. They decided to go with the Ballarat option.Belle Of Dubai duly saluted easily in a maiden on her home track. He remains sure that Belle Of Dubai would have run a big race on the biggest day on the Australian thoroughbred racing calendar.Williams reflected on that dilemma after Belle Of Dubai ($13) won in the sportsbet.com.au 0-62 Handicap for fillies and mares, 1400m, in Ballarat yesterday.Having only her second race start since her maiden break and first since mid-November, Belle Of Dubai sat just off the pace before doing her best work over the last 200m to salute by a half neck over Dangerously In Luv ($7).Williams said it was a great return to racing and the run would certainly improve her.*DAN O'SULLIVAN will take Touch Too Much ($3.70) straight back to the city after she took out the Responsible Gambling Maiden for fillies and mares, 1600m. Having her eighth start in her first racing preparation, the three-year-old appreciated a drop in class and a perfect sit over a sharper trip to get the money by almost a length.O'Sullivan said Touch Too Much had run into some smart types in her short career. She finished second in Ballarat on debut to Response, which has gone on to win a group 3 event and run second in group 2 company. The daughter of Dehere has finished second to city winner Rundle.O'Sullivan said with Touch Too Much thriving on work and suited by wet tracks, he would keep her going with her next assignment being over 2000m at Caulfield.
