Ballarat and Clarendon College puts on best show to shine again

7/08/2008 12:59:00 AM
BALLARAT & Clarendon College has won the Herald Sun Football Country Cup for the third year straight.

BCC played its best football for the competition to beat Shepparton's Notre Dame College 15.11 (101) to 7.8 (50).

Midfielder Luke Fisher was voted best on ground and received the Danny Frawley Medal.

After a tight opening term where the sides broke even, BCC skipped away with a five goal to one second term.

The school continued its run after half-time with an even contribution from the whole squad who went on to build a lead and win by 51 points.

Taite Radley booted six goals at full forward and was well supported by Fisher, Lachlan Delahunty and Liam McInerney who kicked two goals each.

Tim Ruffles and Josh Free also worked hard all day doing a lot of running through the midfield.

"It feels great," co-coach Shaune Moloney said.

"It is not an easy thing to win and the boys did a terrific job.

"We got more numbers to the contests and had better second and third efforts."

Moloney said it was a great win after sneaking into the grand final with a two-point win.

"We had to fight our way in and they (Notre Dame) won through pretty easily," he said.

"We played our very best and were able to match it with them."
