Injuries and unavailability made the job easier for selectors in the round-one victory over North Central league.
But coach Malcolm Scott was yesterday pondering how to include as many as 20 top-line players that are wanting to play in the semi-final against Western Border league.
The semi-final on June 9 is likely to be played at Hamilton.
The players who missed from round one that coach Scott believes have the playing credentials and form to be considered for the semi-final are:
Andrew Button, Darren Stanley, Julian Shanks, Danny Del-re (Melton); Danny York, Garry Barrow (Bachus Marsh); Cade O'Brien, Joel Adams (Daylesford); Matthew Camilleri, Mark Federok (Sunbury); Daniel McMahon, Rian McKee (Lake Wendouree); Chris Russell, Travis Edwards, Grant Wright (Darley); Dru Quinlan (Redan); Andrew Madigan (Ballarat); Willi Rioli (Sebastopol).
The Ballarat League has not played the Western Border league since 1986, but a tough game is expected after the spirit shown on the weekend by the WBFL to sneak home by just one-point against a determined Wimmera Football League at Casterton.
Included in the round two squad are a number of the better players from the equally triumphant BFL under-18 team against North Central League. These players will be closely considered for the VCFL East versus West game later in the year and, as Darley 16-year-old rookie Lee Cox proved in round one, they will also be closely considered for the BFL senior team.
Training dates for the Western Border game will be along the same lines as last round.
The first session will be a run at Darley Park on Tuesday, June 5, and then back to the Northern Oval on Thursday, June 7.
All players will be expected to be on the track by 6.30pm sharp.
