More than 100 people participated and watched from various centres around Victoria. Due to lack of numbers in the competition with only two entries, Melbourne and Ballarat, it was decided to play three games over the two days.

The Ballarat women's team lost the first game but then went on to win the next two rounds easily.

It was the 10th time Ballarat had won since the inclusion of the women's section in 1974.

The team comprised Sue Taylor, Lil Jolly, Alison Harbridge, Dot Shelton, Julie Bahl and Merle Compston.

Best players were Lil Jolly with an average of 107 in round one, Sue Taylor 15.2 round two and Taylor again 10.7 average in round three.

In the Ballarat Open grade competition, Melbourne was victorious over the Ballarat men.

The team consisted of Peter O'Donnell, Doug Jolly, Rob Jones, Jim Fitzpatrick, Ken Cubitt, Ian Spencer and Neil Thompson.

Best performance in all rounds was Peter O'Donnell 27 average round one; 24.2 round two, 31.2 round three.

The Ballarat B grade team came in fourth.

The other teams were Bendigo, Coleraine and Melbourne.

The B Grade players were Barry Bowman, Neale Murnane, Alby Chapman, Bert Leask, Mark Shelton, Owen Knowles and Les Bell.

The Australian Quoits Council accepted the retirement of George Haynes from the Melbourne Association who held the secretary/treasurer position for 24 years.
