REDAN midfielder Jarrod Edwards and Sunbury ruckman Tim Little are not the only two players at the Australian Country Football Championships with a Ballarat Football League connection.
Adam Jennings has been called up to represent the Aboriginal All-Stars in division two of the carnival, being played in Shepparton this week.
And former Redan trio Matthew Walsh, Gareth Hose and Matt Dwyer (all now at the Cairns Saints) will play for Queensland Country, also in division two, Walsh named captain.
While Jennings, Walsh, Hose and Dwyer won't play their first matches until tomorrow, Edwards has already been in the thick of the action for Victoria Country, with a best-on-ground performance in one of yesterday's two matches.
The Victorian division one team kicked off its campaign with a 8.10 (58) to 6.2 (38) victory over Western Australia.
Edwards then spearheaded the Vics to a 8.7 (55) to 3.2 (20) victory over New South Wales.
Victoria now shares top spot in division one with the Australian Capital Territory.
Today Victoria takes on South Australia at 12.50pm at Deakin Reserve before going up against the undefeated ACT team at 3.10pm at the same venue.
* Sunbury key forward Matthew Baird will celebrate his 200th game for the club when the Lions take on Lake Wendouree tomorrow at Wendouree Reserve.
Baird returned to Sunbury at the start of this season after playing at Pascoe Vale in the Essendon and District league last season.
The 32-year-old is joint leader of the Lions' goal kicking tally with 18, equal with Luke Beattie.
