BALLARAT Miners coach Paul Tudorovic will call on his players to cast aside their inhibitions and go for it against Nunawading in the South East Australian Basketball League in Ballarat tonight.
He said he wanted the Miners to back themselves.
Tudorovic said his main message would be to reinforce their confidence in their own game by "doing what comes natural" and sticking to it.
The Telstra Country Wide-Telstra Shop Miners are aiming to snap a two-game losing run against the Spectres.
Losses to third-placed Mt Gambier and second-placed Kilsyth last weekend stopped Ballarat in its tracks and cost it a place in the top four.
While there is still plenty of time to turn around their fortunes, Tudorovic is eager to see it happening now rather than later with the season at the halfway mark.
The Miners usually scout their opposition, but Tudorovic this week turned the team's attention to its own game.
He said players had spent a fair bit of time examining video footage of themselves.
Tudorovic said the Miners would be looking to again go out aggressively tonight, but this time maintaining it throughout the full 48 minutes.
He has been pleased with the way they have been starting, but he says the Miners must sustain the pressure.
"We cannot afford to keep having lapses."
All this means major and consistent contributions from right across the roster - Ryan Stevens Braith Cox, Justin Vande Pol, Paul Larmand, Eric Hayes, Graeme Anstey, Phil Benn, Brett Goodgame and Dion Collard.
Nunawading defeated Ballarat earlier this season, but will have a much different shape about it tonight.
The Spectres have regained Melbourne Tigers big man Stephen Hoare, but veteran Shane Bright is injured and Adam Quick has returned to the United States for personal reasons.
