RACING GLORY, HEAD OF THE LAKE

RACING GLORY, HEAD OF THE LAKE

25 Feb, 2005 11:04 PM
BALLARAT Grammar School and Ballarat and Clarendon College rowing crews earned places in Ballarat Associated Schools sporting history yesterday with victories in the Head of the Lake at Nagambie Lakes.

Grammar was a clear cut winner in the boys' 2000-metre firsts classic, while College edged out Ballarat High School in a gripping battle in the face of a testing head wind.

These schools did not get everything their own way though.

St Patrick's College ended Grammar's long reign as the premier boys' school by snaring the Harold Deveson Cup for the first time since 1998.

Grammar secured the girls' premiership for the 14th time in a row.
