KANGAROOS skipper Adam Simpson is confident that his club's new partnership with North Ballarat will be a success.
Simpson led his team-mates through a solid training session of skills and tackling at Austar Arena yesterday.
The players also did a familiarisation tour of the facilities.
Simpson said he was impressed by what he saw at the home of the Roosters.
"The facilities are great down here," he said.
"Having an AFL club here is going to benefit both parties.
"As long as there's no fractions between the clubs it will work very well."
North Ballarat and Tasmania will align with the Kangaroos from next year.
The AFL club's senior list will be split between the affiliated clubs.
Simpson said it would be "interesting" to watch some of his team-mates line up on each other when North Ballarat took on Tasmania.
"There will be some elbows up," he said.
"The Eagles and Dockers players have been spread out between WAFL (Western Australia Football League) clubs, so the system does work."
The Kangaroos made the visit on their final outing of their three-day pre-season camp in Ballarat.
They spent Monday and Tuesday behind doors at the University of Ballarat.
Simpson said the group worked on peer assessments and goal-setting activities at the university.
"It was a really important couple of days," he said.
"We went through some individual assessments and some team goals for next year.
"We came here last year and it was really successful for us. The uni has really good facilities and it was exactly what we needed."
The Kangaroos will wait until next week to welcome their new recruits into the training squad.
One new face among the Kangaroos yesterday was former Melbourne and Collingwood midfielder Shane Woewodin.
The Magpies delisted the Brownlow Medallist at the end of the season.
He is training in the hope of being selected by the club at this month's pre-season draft.
