EDDIE McGuire said yesterday he was "furious" - and is it any wonder?
Yet again, he has had to front the media - his own colleagues - and explain how another Collingwood footballer had managed to fail a drink driving test.
This time it was Heath Shaw who was the bloody idiot.
"(The Collingwood Football Club) is embarrassed and absolutely furious," Mr McGuire said. "There is no excuse and we're sick and tired of this behaviour ... Enough is enough."
If enough really is enough, why then hasn't Heath Shaw been suspended?
Mr McGuire said Shaw would be fined $10,000 by the club, but would still play in this weekend's match against St Kilda.
You have to wonder which would have hurt Shaw more -parting with the cash, or missing a couple of games in the lead-up to the finals?
Collingwood has lost more than $4 million in sponsorship money in recent years because of the stupidity of some of its players.
Heath Shaw has seen more than one of his fellow players get themselves and their club into trouble doing exactly what he did. He has no excuse for his behaviour.
The question needs to be asked, if this was a player of lesser talent than Heath Shaw, would Collingwood have taken a tougher stand?
By not suspending Shaw, the club leaves itself open to allegations that it has put its on-field aspirations ahead of its off-field responsibilities.
Collingwood cannot say it is serious about punishing its wayward players until it starts dropping them for a couple of games.
Buswell's slow demise part of bigger malaise
THE Liberal Party in Western Australia is without a leader today after Troy Buswell quit the party yesterday.
Mr Buswell's resignation came as a shock to no one. He has been suffering a slow and, at times, agonising demise for some time.
The fortunes of the Liberal Party, both at a state level and federally, don't appear to be getting any better.
