IN response to the letter by Cam Walker (
The Courier, January 25), he must be very afraid that the truth about the potential collateral damage which is being reported by many people living too close to large wind turbines is surfacing.
In contrast to his statement that a growing number of medical authorities around the world are saying there is no credible evidence of any causal link between turbines and ill health, I believe the opposite is true as there is much anecdotal evidence of ill health caused by such issues as sleep deprivation due to exposure to turbine noise.
Cam, while groups like yours are busy criticising anyone who dares to speak out on behalf of those who find it difficult to express their distress, you are missing the point. Why do you have to rake up the idea that there is a scare campaign?
I have read the CSIRO National Research Flagship report. There are some very good points raised but I thought the most important issue was that community consultation left a lot to be desired. The report cited that there was poor/lack of consultation/lack of adoption of concerns in planning process.
I fully support the push for renewable energy but I have said in many of my letters to The Courier, all stakeholders' opinions and concerns are of equal value.Democracy seems to be missing while people in distress are being ignored.
