More courtesy is called for in wind debate

08 Feb, 2012 02:09 PM
Well all of you Hepburn Wind members and affiliated groups have been busy sending in emails to The Courier.

Still name-calling anyone who tells the truth and has the courage of their convictions.

Don't you get it? We have better things to do than fight for years to be heard. You show no compassion or empathy towards humankind.

The people at the meeting are good people, they care for anyone in trouble even if it was one of you, so think about it, we are all Australians so treat us with respect and a kind heart as you would want to be treated.

JAN PERRY

Who has called Ms Perry or any other person at the meeting any names? I can't see what Ms Perry is talking about.

No, you don't get it. Anecdotal assertion of infrasonic illness isn't real hard evidence.

"Courtesy"? When the many studies that disagree are dismissed as fraudulent and corrupt, or misquoted as supporting?

A French 2006 study widely cited by anti's as evidence of harm has turned out to actually conclude exactly the opposite. "Compassion", "empathy", and "respect"? How about some basic honesty?

I am not "affiliated" with anyone, just tired of spin.

There needs to be respect shown on both sides of any debate or discussion.

I hope they put some turbines up next to your place in creswick roly, although you must be the only one in the town who supports them!

the only spin has ever come from the wind industry and labor party who are both experts in the area.

l can certainly sympathize with Ms Perry, as she lives a very short distance for the turbines on Leonards Hill.

l fully understand how theses windfarms can and are destroying peoples lives.

Keep your chin up Ms Perry, some people do care about you.

I'm assuming there must be a reason windfarms are selected where they are but wonder why they can't be established on crown land, away from any population. It would safe a lot of time and trouble if the wind farm industry could make this work.

I also support clean energy but in all honesty, I wouldn't want a tower put up near my house either. If I needed the money I would probably look at the positive of the reports too but if I didn't need the money, I just wouldn't want one. These people who are against the towers have had them imposed on them and they were there (in the area) first.

Well done for speaking up Jan Perry, Hepburn wind is largly made up of so called shareholders that live no where near the turbines, infact most of them are not local at all.

If it wasnt for the handouts given to this mob by our previous useless government then this shocking waste of taxpayers money would not have gone ahead.

Id like to see hepburn wind publish how much power is being generated and a list of all their members and locations to at least give them some credibility as "local".

And so taxpayers can see what we are getting for our money.

@Roly, "Anecdotal assertion of infrasonic illness isn't real hard evidence." The Tabaco industry said the same thing about lung cancer in the 70's then proper tests proved them wrong. When people's health is at risk full scietific tests should be conducted. I fully support renewable energy but also support people's health and safety!

Renewable energy is one thing, but to make people bear the brunt of those awful windfarms is criminal.

Let the people who want them, live there. I feel for you Jan Perry, I used to live near Creswick, now live near a state forest with millions of trees, just to make sure I don't have them inflicted upon me.

I'm on your side, I hope these awful turbines end up hated like the cigarettes from the Marlboro Man.
