LAST Sunday I was privileged to have been part of a packed house at the Oddie Gallery, Art Gallery Of Ballarat, for the Gallery Women's Association's (GWA) Last Sunday of July concert "Songs of the Hebrides".
FOR those of us who attended the Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry into the handling of child abuse by religious and other non-government organisations when it sat in Ballarat early last year, and heard the sickening story of former Christian Brother Stephen Farrell's abuse of a nine-year-old boy, the report of the perpetrator's successful appeal against a suspended sentence does not make sense.
IT IS obvious that our local members of Parliament, Sharon Knight (Ballarat West), Geoff Howard (Ballarat East) and Jo Helper (Ripon), are either extremely busy or they are just too lazy (I suspect the latter) to answer my letter in The Courier of almost a month ago where I challenged each of them to explain their reasons for the stuff up by their former Brumby government regarding the sale process of the poker machine program, where the state of Victoria missed out on an income of over $2 billion.
