The Ballarat Grammar VCE student has been awarded a scholarship from a leading international law firm.
Just one applicant from Victoria was chosen for the scholarship, with Becky chosen out of thousands of applicants for the King & Wood Mallesons Aspire Award.
The $9000 scholarship will see her through her final year of VCE next year and help her financially in her first two years of university.
Keen to become a lawyer, Becky will also receive a mentor from the firm.
“I like to think I have a strong sense of social justice, which made me want to get into law,” she said. “I like to get involved with people’s lives and I want to be emotionally involved with clients and help them out in that way.”
King & Wood Mallesons partner Michael Clough commented that Becky was an “impressive young lady with wisdom and commitment beyond her years”.
Becky hopes to study law at Deakin University.
