The Red Caps, missing a handful of key players this round, defended their total of 216 with relative ease.
After being promoted from the seconds, Anthony Beacham was the man that caused the most trouble for the Hawks batsmen.
The medium pacer bowled a tight line and length all afternoon, finishing the day with 5-14 from 13 overs.
Things started well for the East boys, who saw off the first half hour without the loss of a wicket before Peter Colbourne (five) was caught behind off the bowling of Sam Peeters.
The home side got back on track and carried the score to 52 before Beacham snared former Red Cap Jon Barnett for 10.
This was the beginning of the end for the Hawks, which lost wickets at regular intervals to be all out for 108 shortly after 4.30pm.
Peeters (2-31) and Jordan Oliver (2-18) were the other bowlers to do damage. Wendouree’s victory leaves it five points clear on top of the ladder.
