The new schedule has been arranged so that senior football teams which finished in the lower third of the ladder this year will play others from a similar ranking in the early rounds of next season.
This is aimed to give these clubs the best chance of securing wins early in the campaign.
The 2013 fixture is the third established under the 18-team format, with the initial two seeing each team play every opponent at home and away.
Round one will kick-off on April 13 next year with the competition to break for the WorkSafe Country Championships on May 25 when the Central Highlands takes on Maryborough Castlemaine District.
This clash follows the Highlanders’ return from interleague wilderness with victory over Ellinbank and District in Nar Nar Goon this year.
The competition will again pause on June 8 for the Queen’s Birthday weekend before progressing through until finals, which commence on the weekend of August 24-25.
The four-week finals series concludes with the grand final on September 14.
A highlight of the fixture is the grand final rematch between reigning premiers Daylesford and Buninyong in round six.
