A TEENAGER has been stabbed at a high school in Melbourne's west, after a fight broke out in the schoolyard.
Victoria Police detectives are investigating the incident at the Wyndham Vale high school, in which a boy is understood to have inflicted a minor cut to another teenager, possibly with a pocket knife.
A spokeswoman for Victoria Police said that the injured boy had ben taken to Werribee Mercy Hospital.
The principal of the school told Channel Seven that it was an appalling incident.
Police said the stabbing had happened around 2pm on Thursday afternoon.
