Is the frequent reminder on TV,
Enough to send me into a panic,
As I shop, cook and decorate Christmas tree.
A phone survey asks if I have a mortgage,
Shocked I resume polishing with Mr Sheen,
Trying to banish furniture finger marks,
Still more windows to be made sparkling clean.
Grandson Gabriel is coming for Christmas,
We will ensure that Santa calls this year,
Can hardly wait to see his red-gold hair,
And cute smiles that, to us, are so dear.
Men cart home that Aussie amber liquid,
To toast this family holiday event,
Shops provide stirring annual carols,
That many appreciate some resent.
Soon the magic Yuletide Eve will dawn,
Gifts wrapped (hopefully) while families unite,
Little ones, no doubt unable to sleep,
Santa's visit is truly their hearts' delight.
As church services and choirs honour,
The infant saviour's miraculous birth,
New hope is enshrined in countless hearts,
Peace and good will to all men on Earth.
