Nobody could here them singing because of the volume of noise emanating from the GC Hotel on the corner of Sturt and Dawson streets. The hotel revellers on the balcony would have been able to see the young enthusiastic carollers from where they were standing but they did not cease their own chatter to listen not did they ask for the loud music to be turned down.
It certainly would not have decreased the hotel's profits in any way or upset the drinkers to keep quiet for 10 minutes.
How disappointing that the hotel and its patrons ignored not only these young children and their valiant efforts but also the Christmas spirit they were trying to present for all the community.
